I challenge you to write an article explaining why modern society would NOT exist without calculus. That is, if most of mankind was wiped out by a cosmic event, what problem MUST we use calculus for to feed, cloth and house us?
I'd want to see the equations in this article used in real-life ways.
Must we have it for steam engines, for cars, electricity? Or, if calculus was outlawed, what couldn't you do?
