But not beyond whatever we didn't see in China, or Africa on any given Tuesday. This is the mote in Israel's eye. That calling Hamas ISIS gets real U.S. support. Again as you point out, ask the Ukrainians about U.S. friendship.
Can Israel take care of Hamas by itself. In the short term, sure. But long-term? You point out, and I agree, that Israel has to repeatedly called the U.S.'s bluff to get support. The "USS Liberty" is my favorite example of that. What has to be pointed out is Israel has so far been able to keep the West in line, so to speak. Will that be forever? What would it mean for the U.S. to write Israel off? As it has 20% of Ukraine?
These are sleepless nights.
I mean, if Israel can't protect its people from its OWN prison it has to ask some REALLY HARD questions about its prospects if it moves into Gaza and others take their opportunity to create a two-front war.
Israel needs to be cool-headed, get up from the chess board, and gather all its wits. It will need them.
