By elites what do you mean? Top 1% in assets? 5%. Those who are educated? Those who are lucky to own a home in a nice neighborhood, in a safe country? What do we mean we say "elites".

In revolutions the "elites" are often killed. In France they took no chances and cut as far into the elites as their hair stylists. That's the problem with "their time is going to come." If we don't know now, who is an elite, how can we know when all the bullets are flying?

I believe Steinbeck was right, but it was the European Elites who paid up (or did they even?). The European wars made Americans rich. So the Joads DID get their money--on the death and destruction of the Germans, French, English, etc...

I don't see "elites" making these problems. I see only us.
