Dispassionate Take On Israel’s Gaza Tactics
The Only Superpower Israel Has Pleased is Russia, And They Won’t Be A Superpower Much Longer

In this piece I will try to adopt what I understand as the Opher Ganel explanation of Israel’s reasoning in the current Gaza/Hamas situation.
- Hamas, wanting to remove Israelis from Palestine, is a non-changeable, existential threat to Jews living in Israel; in short, “it’s them or us”.
- Palestinians, for the most part, may not want to shoot at Israelis but share Hamas’s goal. They will assist where they can. Therefore, they have collective responsibility for Hamas’s actions and are not innocents in the conflict.
- Therefore, Hamas must be eliminated and the Palestinians weakened to the point that they can’t easily assist in the reconstitution of Hamas (or similar).
Opher’s analysis is complex. Keep in mind, these views are my own.
My geopolitical framework:
- All groups recognize they must have diplomatic (and often trade) relations with their neighbors because without them they will be weakened compared to those who have them (simply put, its neighbors will gang up on it).
- All groups set a border around what they feel is their territory.
