Does Russia care if it loses most of its tanks? Does it do much good for Ukraine to have more of them?
The core problem as I see it is that Russia has set up vast minefields which are protected by artillery and drones. If Ukraine can't breach them it can't push Russia out of Ukraine.
Each side can attack behind enemy lines with drones till the cows come home but it doesn't remove a single mine. As you pointed out in your other stories, F-16 enabled pressure to keep Russia from attacking Ukraine crossing the mine fields would be a huge benefit.
I think I'd rather ride in a golf cart than a tank. Easier to run into the woods ;)
If one side could seriously deplete the other's use of drones and artillery than we can talk tanks!
