Does she have political views? I didn't get the impression she thinks about policy. She judges everyone by their "character" in however she observed them behaving. She's not interested in 2nd impressions ;) If they fooled her they fooled her.

My wife's mother hated Clinton because he cheated on Hillary. She too, wasn't interested in anything else. She was certainly smart enough to discuss policy. Again, just simply not interested.

I consider myself in the top 1% of the U.S. population in understanding what's going on in Ukraine, as it related to the U.S. If I was King, what would I do? I can't decide.

Lately, I'd like to send in the military and take Russia on, push them out of Ukraine. Nuclear war is not a big worry for me. The problem is that it would validate Putin's claims. No matter how much I might argue against it, your Mother in Law would rightfully say, the U.S. humiliating and weakening Russia...for what?

For what, indeed? Why do people fight and die for borders which they really don't want. We want to travel and do business freely. When the rubber meet the road I feel dumber than all the Mother-in-Laws in the world.

As horrendous as the war has become, the forces behind it aren't new and they won't end when the war ends. What Europe really wants it cheap oil/gas from Russia while 100 million Russians live on gruel under a thousand or so Russian insiders who keep them in line for a King's ransom.

It's what we do with Saudi Arabia. And we do it no matter who gets butchered or no matter how many women or dissidents disappear.

It's what was happening n Ukraine, but good luck beginning that conversation.

But yeah, your Mother in Law is completely wrong. I just wish I could find what's right.
