EV naysayer here. Reporting in for duty, Paul! EVs are status symbols (go 0 to 60 in 3 seconds and everything is automated and clean). They push the problem of dwindling resources out of the EV owner's view. If EVs were as good for everyone as you say they are they would be affordable, usable, for everyone. All that friction they deal with through magnets is sent into thousands of pounds of chemicals which cannot be recycled cost-efficiently. Sure ICE cars have their break pad litter the landfills, but they'll be nothing to all the e-waste of EVs.

As oil/gas become more and more expensive to own the wealth inequality will reach world-war levels. Those who have the money to buy EVs will make no connection between their luck and greed and the breakdown of civilization.

No EV owner works in a mine or factory. All out of sight. EV owners aren't saving the planet. They're just ending it a bit quicker with righteousness to spare.

I'm also so happy they're happy that they can employ less people to fix their cars. And that those people don't have to worry about finding a job where they could afford an EV.

Hope you're well!
