Every word you wrote is true. To me, at least. I read this poem in my 20s. It only get more accurate as I age. I often come back to it. Why didn't all the young Russian soldiers put down their arms and bunk up their their young Ukrainian counterparts? What could Putin do then? Nothing. It seems all so simple. Why isn't it? I can't get a straight answer why Russia's demands about Ukraine couldn't be met. I didn't think Russia would invade. When they did, why didn't the West immediately say, "Okay, if you're that upset about it let's talk." What is wrong with us humans? Or is this just the way we are?
