Exactly, Russia is ready to show some "Shock and Awe" of its own. (though I don't believe they have ever, or would consider, all of Ukraine). Like you say, shock and awe is okay for us, but no one else.

What I find so interesting is Schönbach spoke the realpolitik truth. Putin will die eventually, or lose his grip. He's old. The Navy Admiral understood that it's best to pay him some lip service in the meantime and wait. Germany lost another independent thinking military officer.

He also understand the larger issue of China. Russia sits between China and the Europe. Europeans can't see the forest for the trees.
