Fascinating take! What boggles my mind is Musk is alienating the kind of people who buy his cars in the U.S.--Democrats. The reason you won't see a "Renault" billboard here is most Tesla owners remain emotionally attached to the brand, to the status it gave them. You won't sell a car by calling someone an idiot for buying their current car.
It's the same with Apple by the way. I just had a comment-dust-up with someone who took exception when I said the "1984" Advert was the beginning of Apple's hypocrisy and cult-like behaviors. But that Apple wasn't to blame, most people are lemmings.
Tesla and Apple are both for simpletons. There. I said it :) But so what? We used to call it the "mass market". In the end, ubiquity will kill them both.
