Great piece! I'd put myself in the intelligent but low energy category. However, that's a story in itself you might write. The more complex a problem I try to solve the more sugar I eat to pull be down from the coffee giving me the energy to push through the complexity. (not so much anymore, I've aged out of the rat race).

I believe if I didn't do the caffeine/sugar cycle thing I could do what Shapiro does. But I don't want that. I believe there are many like me. The difference between us and Shapiro is he has a single-minded focus on social success. He's a narcissist, not necessarily in a bad way. We enjoy the messiness. The freedom of thought. Shapiro sacrifices freedom of thought for a limited set of "problems" he's good at solving.

I was watching him at that Oxford thing. It was annoying to me because I felt I could give him a good run for his money. Yet many of the students he made mince-meat of because they didn't put the energy into learning the facts, or thinking things through. They were low-energy. But I bet had the IQ for it. Your article made me think of that too.
