Great piece. Agree with Greg, a cat shit sandwich. But reality is reality. I think what you meant to say is we don't need dead Ukrainians to defang Russia. We only need time. The Putin regime is mortally wounded. I agree. Have said so from the beginning. Putin won't live forever. There's no succession, no cult of personality that can continue Russia attempted expansion (recapture of whatever).

The simple truth is the U.S. and EU didn't do, and still won't do, what's really needed to get Russia out of Ukraine. Boots on the ground. It is what it is.

That said, as you point out, despite the loss of land, Ukraine is more secure today than it has ever been. I believe it can economically crush Russia. But it needs time. It need to bring its men back from the front line and Europe.
