Great piece! I take the oppsite views of some of the commentators, that the technical problems facing EVs will be easily solved. You pointed out the psychological part they discount--people use cheap energy to buy larger status confering uses. I remember everyone saying they would stop using so much gas in the 1970s but as soon as gas got cheaper, back came the gas guzzlers. Minivans, SUVs, trucks, etc.

If some of the problems get solved, as they predict, we'll just have more flying cars while more people starve or die of heat exhaustion.
