Hi Dan! You've zeroed in on the million dollar question which I hadn't thought of when I wrote this. Why would Hamas deliver such a blow that is sure to illicit a full-scale military response from Israel? Like you say, will mean a total loss for Iran. There's something we don't don't know. It could fit into what I wrote (perhaps Iran will demonstrate a nuke after Israel wears itself down in Gaza), or might not. If you have an idea let me know!
