Hi Justin. I'm not paid to write these pieces. I'm not part of the Medium payment system. Am I lazy. For sure. All that said, I have been paid to write and, shocker, I can spend months researching something but that has no bearing on anyone taking what I write seriously, or what anyone takes seriously for that matter.

This is a general opinion piece about Sri Lanka and geopolitics. My main point is that if people anywhere lose access to basic energy and food sources they become violent and governments can topple. Nothing new. Sri Lanka is just one of those risks these days.

I did think about researching the wealthy families in Sri Lanka. But then thought, why bother, the pareto curve applies everywhere when it comes to wealth. Was my generalization wrong?

I chose to use my time on something else. I have dozens of stories I'd like to write. There are only so many hours in the day!
