Hi Ken, thanks for you thoughts. I don't disagree with you that he WAS a jerk, I took exception that the author called him a "jerk" using only parts of the story which is a phenomena these days that irks me.

I'm not talking about the event as much as how the author constructed a narrative to use the event to please her audience (which I do all the time, so don't get me wrong! I too am guilty as sin)

This generation is going after all the evils of prior generation as if they have nothing to do with the War in Ukraine, slave labor in China, the homeless, Opioids, etc., etc. Of course, no generation is saintly but as older people of my generation attacked the materialism of my generation, I need to call out the selective righteousness of this generation.

Because of course that will fix things!!! :)
