I agree, Turkey should not be ignored. The wealthy in Turkey benefit from his plan, the common people go bankrupt. The same has already played out in Lebanon. It's playing out all over the world. A wealthy Chinese person has more in common with a wealthy American than they do their own neighbor. This is true globally.

Turkey sits between the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As you know. It's also planned ahead, militarily, for this exactly situation. It's waiting for the big dogs to fight (U.S./China) so it can get the bone ;)

Through more exports it can raise more money for its military. It's already in war mode. The commoners are collateral damage at the moment.
