I agree with you. It would be insane for me to vote for Trump (or for anyone). To use your amputation analogy, how do we fix the Democratic party? Perhaps by amputating them. Most people are not rational. They only learn the hard way. You're right, many are naive about what that will mean. Believe me, I know the consequences of what I'm saying. But if I don't see anyone preventing it why not let it burn through as fast as possible? Anyway, I don't see a solution.
