I also love the problem when I try to go into a service but it says it needs an authentication number but NOT which authentication software I used to set it up. So I have to find that. The IRS put it in for EFTPS but it's just another password layer, not connected to a physical device. Like you write, no one thinking this stuff out. Like politicians, they encounter a problem and fix it with a short-term kludge that creates as many problems as it solves.
