I believe that has happened, does happen. Generally, professional soldiers aren't political. Unfortunately, they must take their orders from politicians. Before the war, I remember watching some interviews with Ukrainian soldiers in the Donbas. When asked what they thought would happen they'd say they had no idea, go ask those in Kyiv or Moscow. Despite the recent photos, I believe 99% of the Russian military (not the conscripts) do not kill civilians or steal, etc.

But war is war and even two mental Russians, killing 10 people a day, could have filled up those streets. It doesn't take much.

The mayor who was taken by the military a few weeks ago said he was treated fine and not roughed up in any way. Not saying that doesn't happen, but the media doesn't report anything that makes Russian soldiers look human.
