I believe the Osborne Effect is only possible in a growing economy. Instead, what have is the inflation expectations effect. Everyone sees prices going up so they rush to buy early. Those purchases reinforce the idea, to the average Joe, that as soon as shortage decrease the economy will grow. Anything's possible I suppoe. But the historical record say high prices are only fixed by a recession.
