I didn’t connect the dots. Authoritarian nations are generally chauvinistic. To them, LGBTQ issues weaken the family and therefore the State. Similarly, Hitler felt the nomadic Jews weakened Germany. If Nazi Germany lasted another year the Jews working in the U.S. at Los Alamos would have given him quite the education in the “weakness” of the Jews.

Similarly, Raytheon probably has a fair amount of, let’s say, LGBTQ types building weapons. Sure, America is a hot-mess about those issues but compared to Russia a “Pussy Riot” doesn’t end up in prison. American industry generally pulls from the best and brightest, no matter what their sexuality or political views.
