I don't believe you've read many of my essays. Or you haven't read them closely. My point isn't that Israel should be kind to Hamas. My point is that if you wall up a place for 17 years with people in it who, as you say, have a mission to kill you, then what should you expect? The goal should be to imprison the radicals and prevent others from joining their cause, carrot and stick. Israel has done all stick and walls with Gaza and it didn't work. Maybe nothing they tried would have worked; I don't know.
Another way I would put it is if you put dogs in a cage with little food and human contact who is to blame if they get out and kill people? In this, I ask you, who is the realist here, you or I? ;)
