I don't know where we match up to Germany's Nazi timeline between 1933 and 1939. Same stuff, but not a duplicate. To me, this isn't a problem of MAGA Republicans. They're only one half of the opposing forces. The easiest to understand since they're always attacking everyone. Why do they attack? Why do they destroy the very institutions from which they gain their power? Why? Why? Why?
Because the other side choses to let them do that then honestly address the problem of income inequality, climate change, the limits of healthcare, etc., etc.
Like the aristocrats of Europe, the wealthy of the U.S. are too busy cashing in their mRNA stock options, buying ever bigger and more ostentatious EVs, traveling Europe.
When I was young poor neighborhoods were walking distance from wealthy neighborhoods. Today it would be hard for me to walk from Cambridge, MA to a poor neighborhood. We live in another gilded age, as occurred before WWI.
The MAGA republicans aren't the ones with the real money. All they have is the masses, so to speak. The ones with the money are happy with a narrative where it's the Republican MAGAs who are evil.
They're happy to let Putin continue. They believe IF they used their F-35s and all the might of the U.S. military they could snuff him out tomorrow. That's what the aristocrats believe before WWi and WWII. It's what they believe today.
They believe they have the military to protect their global interests. They believe they have the money to buy off their own population.
