I have read the book. Would I want to go hang out with Murray? Nope. He's too much of an elitist for my taste. Do I think he believes whites are generally "smarter" than blacks? Yes (despite what he says).

But for all that...so what? I'm not reading his book, nor your pieces, to join some racist or anti-racist club, or whatever.

How much do genetics factor into our intelligence? What is intelligence? Are there things we could improve about society if we accept some findings?

Point me to a book that asks the same questions by a black man and I'll happily read it. Though I'd hope the questions would be stronger than "are blacks smart as whites" or whatever silliness people like to tar the Bell Curve with.

My guess is there were people in your past who questioned your intelligence. They were white. So you can't help but make a connection. Similarly, there were black people in my youth, that seemed dumb, and because of artificial reasons, I made a connection that is objectively wrong.

I have to work to counteract racial feelings I KNOW for certain are wrong. I believe you need to do the same thing. Murray made a mistake in the book about some Africans. Remember, most of the studies he's only citing. He didn't do them. People make mistakes. Or maybe it was malicious. Work past it. Just like I try to work past childhood experiences I have, that I know, from later experiences, are completely wrong.

There is no public discussion of genetics. For me that's a problem.
