I know reading your stories, you're in a difficult place. Yes, most the dead on that ships are basically kids. And on land too.
When Russia invaded they sent in the army and special "groups". Same as with Germany in WWII. Why would the Russian Army torture and kill 1,000 people? What would they get out of it? That isn't to say guys in the army didn't do it. But it may have only been the special forces that take out political leaders. It's not like Putin's regime doesn't have the reputation. My guess, for what it's worth, is civilians were killed by non-army agents. So when Russia says it wasn't the Army I actually believe them. But who killed them is even worse.
And I believe U.S. intelligence knows it.
What if that's true? Then don't we have a moral obligation to battle Russia directly? Is it better to live in a world where torture and rape are the norms instead of nuclear wasteland? Seems a toss-up to me.
Everyone should cut off their gas from Russia, no matter what the cost. The U.S. and Europe should at least threaten Russia with a military response. Instead, there's just a ton of rationalization by corrupt politicians.
I remember when the Kirsk went down. Putin brushed it off. He couldn't give a shit. How is that forgotten? I can say this an a U.S. born citizen. Why aren't we standing up for the helpless?
When we do learn of the sailors who died I bet none of them will come across as remotely evil.
