I mean "coal" also as a short-hand for fossil fuels. I'm not questioning that wind, solar and hydro produce electricity. I just don't see it growing in a raw energy amount to displace fossil fuels. Again, the measurement of CO2 in the atmosphere (which I understand aggregates many sources) doesn't show a reduction or slow down.
Electricity makes sense for China because it has little oil/gas. Hopefully it can generate all it needs with wind/solar and hydro. How much they need/use coal, do we really know?
We have wind, solar, hydro, right? So why is manufacturing of raw material done in China? It still doesn't add up ;) The most obvious reason remains, to me, that they're using fossil fuels.
