I see it the other way. For the most part, everyone recognizes the same facts. The first problem is that those facts reach back thousands of years so it's difficult for everyone to become scholarly enough to discuss them all. Then, what is more significant? The Balfour Declaration of 1917, The Six Day War, etc., etc.

The ultimate question is in the bible everyone shares. "Am I my brother's keeper?" Israel is the favored one by God, these days. In the Torah, God asks what responsibility we have for the unfavored.

So I am split too. I am upset Israel doesn't take better care of the Palestinians and I'm upset that the Hamas wants to kill Jews.
