I stopped drinking a lot of coffee a few years ago. I drink tea instead. I don't believe it's the caffeine as much as other psychosomatic chemicals--whatever they are. Although I'll drink some coffee in the morning, only because my wife makes it, I NEVER drink it past 12. It stays in my system and increases the probability that I'll wake up in a weird panic.
Also, I don't get that coffee high anymore, or if I do, it lasts a few minutes and is gone. So not hard to give up for that reason.
If scientists one day argue that our culture went psychotic because of coffee (part of Trump phenom) I wouldn't be the least surprised. The amount of coffee consumption today, vs when I was young, is really off the charts.
