I watched all of "Suits" and had no idea Markle was part "black" until she married Prince Harry and I read about it. My guess is that she and Harry are very, how do I put this, insecure yet ambitions, educated but dull. I believe they are monstrously naïve about why Britain holds onto the royal family in the first place.

The royal family IS ALL about white English culture. Calling them racist would be like calling Eskimos racist against blacks. The worlds simply don't overlap. The only reason the royals ever meet blacks is because some nations in the Commonwealth are mostly black. And it's not like the royals are free to make friends with anyone they want. In the final analysis, they're paid to entertain white people.

We all make bad jokes. No one is trying to listen to mine. So I feel your argument that they are racist because of some comments is only correct if you assume everyone else, you or I, NEVER make such comments.

I make them even when I'm not aware. I have (had, he died) a cousin who used to call me "boooy" when I worked as as roofer with him decades ago. I have a black friend. I was joking with him and I said "booy" in that way. His face dropped. He was about to say 'don't call me that'. I suddenly realized how I sounded. I quickly tried to apologize. He quickly tried to say it didn't matter. We both rushed to forget the whole thing as soon as possible. But of course, I'll never forget. I really never made the connection until that moment. BTW, I'm not sure my cousin did either. I think to him it was just an expression of Southerners.

Anyway, I believe Rock's joke works because he's not minimizing racism itself, he pointing out that in the world of problems most blacks have, Markle's problem doesn't rate a complaint. She cheapens the issue.

In Rock's Will Smith bit he says he didn't fight back because "I have parents...and they taught me never to fight in front of white people." So he's obviously thinking about racial issues. And if you connect that to Markle his argument he's saying that one should be careful before bringing up race--which I agree with--for all things emotional like that.

Markle didn't think it through.

Anyway, thems me thoughts.
