If one enjoys a movie it's good! If I was young I might have enjoyed it.

When you write "subverts" you make my point. The movie subverts a moral code without replacing it with another. To sum up your summing up, a guy is a dick, he does dickish things and at the end sacrifices himself--but to what!?

After WWII many filmmakers didn't take such a flippant view of morality. A person's conduct, principles, values, etc., meant something. They had consequences. Tell me your favorite movie that tells a moral story.

A movie that gives you insight into humanity. One of my favorite movies is "12 O'Clock High" I've watched it countless time. Unlike Green Knight, the stakes are high and there are no easy answers or sophomoric fantasies.
