If only! Most everything we do is make-work for ourselves. You seem to believe the "State" is an artificial construct. I believe it is how humans organize themselves. Whether its a council of elders or the large governments in the U.N.--the more people who gather together the bigger the "State" becomes.

Neither is the State owned by humanity nor does humanity own the State. It's like hunger for food. Do we own it or does it own us? For me the latter ;)

This is just my thoughts on it. Might change my mind tomorrow!
