If you feel compelled to come up with a new word or phrase you're not writing a news story, you're writing an opinion piece.

The biggest problem I see is the basic facts reported. Iran attacked all of Israel with a swarm of drones, cruise missiles and rockets.

I believe Iran only attacked a couple of military bases in the desert. NPR probably spent more time on the political back and forth between those supporting Israelis or Iranians than answering the basic question of exactly what/who was attacked by what/who (Iran, Hezbollah, Houthis). NPR doesn't starts its work with first checking the PR of governments. It reports that AS-IS.

Then it gets to the words, as you point out. Words based on fundamentally flawed or incomplete information.
