I’m not going to argue there’s a silver lining in what you point out. But, I feel you’re simply wrong about Vietnam’s attitude towards China. I doubt they have forgotten 1979. That said, yes, their history is based on keeping everyone at arm’s length. I definitely over-estimate and under-estimate China. That comes with not knowing WTF is going on in there ;)
