I'm surprised you didn't mention Western anti-ship missiles. I believe they're already there, or will soon be, though it will remain top-secret. Only red-tape is getting in their way. Same for Polish Su-27s That will happen eventually, probably in process now.

Once that happens, Russian ships will have to move even further away from Odesa. If Russia tried to surround Odesa on land, they would risk the Ukrainians firing those missiles. Anyway, for many reasons, like you, I can't see Russia ever getting further West. That said, who knows what will happen in the East.
