IMO, for what it's worth, Russia hasn't destroyed much of what Ukraine cares most about. Ironically, Russia destroyed the city of residents most sympathetic to Russia. But it's a small city.
As for 22% of the country by area. If Russia took all of Alaska, almost 18%, would we notice? Care?
