In my opinion you're talking about the IDF of old. Hamas is not an existential threat. Corrupt Israelis went cheap on the border security and they go into Israel. Instead of fixing that corruption Israelis have let those corrupt people whip them up into a frenzy to wipe out Gaza. It may work. But the Israel you once knew will be gone because the corrupt will turn on you after Gaza is gone (unless you're one of the corrupt Nadav, then well, you're getting what you want why waste your time with me?).
