Interesting ideas and you make me think about how we value energy. However, I have to quibble with the reality of Bitcoin.

Yes, I agree that energy=money and that a crypto-currency could work as an energy token. However, millions will freeze to death this winter who could have been kept warm with the energy used to create/authenticate Bitcoins. All that energy from the sun was not used for humanity but those who already had the oil money necessary to build the server farms and produce it--again, at the loss of those who really needed the energy to survive.

Even though there's a lot of loss, if all the stored-sun-energy was used to produce hydrogen instead of Bitcoin we could use it to warm poor people around the world. In order for your arguments to gain traction, I feel you have to solve for that.
