Interesting piece! America is a victim of its own success (wealth). There is no common cause. There is a shared identity in "freedom" but it is abused. It's ironic that we fought in a war that wasn't needed, Iraq, but are not fighting alongside Ukrainians (with Polish support) who do need it--as much as we do. Indeed, they are fighting to keep a world intact, that American helped create. We take so much for granted.

I am optimistic that Americans will get their act together. But I don't see it happening any time soon.
