Interesting take! However, I don't see the U.S. as having a war machine as much as a global neighborhood mafia machine. Our military keeps global trade safe. Therefore, we should get to sell LNG to Europe instead of Russia that doesn't keep everyone safe (a bs argument of course). My guess is that it was the same in Roman times. In other words, Rome (and the U.S.) make a lot of money through its indirect military tax on goods flowing around the world.

Russia can sell gas more cheaply to EU than the US. But the U.S. wants its cut and Russia has basically said, "F off" ;)

But whatever reason, i agree with you, will end the same.
