It's something I've been saying for a long time, though in the other way. Israel doesn't do anything for the U.S. anymore. It has no oil/gas. No canal, as you say. It's a mafia. Sure it has a lot of very strong ties the U.S. through military development, etc., but my take is that it has become absolutely impossible to deal with. Whether I put on my hawk hat or dove hat I see Israel as a liability to Western interests. You know Israel privately would assist Russia if it could. It's a spoiled child totally out of control.
