Jordan (U.S. funded), Syria (Russia funded) and Iraq (Iran/U.S. funded) are not in a position to help anyone. Couldn't agree more. But the Saudis and others are.
If your logic were true we wouldn't have a Hezbollah today. The money has been flowing in and killing some of its leaders will not change that. Again, I am not justifying Hezbollah or Iran. It is NOT about them. It is about what all nations agree on when they work together. There are lines each shouldn't cross.
Iran can fund them because China buys its oil and produces things that fill all our houses for cheap. That hasn't changed. The truth is, YOU AND I pay for Hezbollah and have been for a long time. But that mechanism is complicated so doesn't fit into simple narratives ;)
Even without Hitler there were plenty of Europeans who wanted to get rid of the Jews. Lithuania, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, etc. They didn't need a "great man", they just needed someone else to start it.
The point you're missing about my piece is that it isn't about Israel's (bad) relationship to Iran, or its proxies. It's about balance of power. It will be capped. It will be capped by those who have oil and generate huge amounts of money. Israel ultimately doesn't have the money to "defend" itself, in your words. Not unless the U.S. continues to support it, which it has been pulling back for years. It's one of the reasons I believe Israel has gone nuts. It DOES read that writing on the wall. So it is doing everything in its power to win as much as it can before the money runs out.
I just don't think it will work. From an Arabs position in the Middle East, what has Israel done for it? Put aside all the religious stuff. It's only acted like a bully. It has shown their own weakness.
If you're right, and Iran now looks like a fool, which I believe is true. Well, it will find a way to even the score. Remember, revenge is a dish best served cold.
Israel, with its capital flight, ruined international relations, will find that when it most needs a friend, few will answer its call. Just like no one answered them in the 1940s. Because nations don't care about "peoples" (except their own). Never have. Never will.
