Just a quibble, I think this conceit gives people the false idea that the breakdown in society can be solved by addressing the demands of those who "rise up." The French Revolution, in my understanding, wasn't a transfer of power from the rich to the poor, it was psychosis of killings that lasted years. Post WWII Russia was no clean move to communism. Israel will not be fixed by creating a 2nd State for the Palestinians.

I look at it more like the runaway fission in a nuclear reactor. Once enough people turn violent there's no stopping it. Prevention is our only hope. And yet there are never enough humans to make sure our governments don't let us get there. Never enough to read history and make sure everyone understands--we don't want to go there.
