Knockout" is the "3rd cousin" for sure! Pedantic comments always appreciated!

Yes, I have questioned my understanding of the Russian economy. However, after some thought I ended back at my original assessment.

The pandemic has slowed the global economy to a crawl. Positive GDP anywhere is nonsense. I see a consolidation of wealth that will be one for the history books (when all is said and done).

Because the media is run by those on the favorable side of that wealth line the extent of the damage is underreported. Russia has stopped releasing statistics. There's so much food going into the big cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, that we're not going to see economic suffering as food lines. There are problems there too, but the pandemic has blunted them. The supermarket stores near me remain understocked.

In short, every economy with local food and energy sources seems fine.

If we lose our job tomorrow our personal economy doesn't show problems. We borrow. We economize. Yes, we'll see it through, but the real consequences take time to be realized in front of others.

Only now, is Brexit really being felt and noticed by others outside Britain.

I'm going to write a longer article about why Russia's economy will only get worse in the decade ahead.

Or, basically, if I give you ten million dollars but put you in prison, do you have ten million dollars? No. You only have ten million when you get out of prison and can spend that ten million. That means, the important question is what is that ten million worth when you get out of prison.

I expect hyperinflation in Russia when the war ends (which is another reason, Putin won't quit).
