Lore has that during the filming "On The Waterfront" Sam Spiegel the producer, and Elia Kazan argued, even yelled at each other, every day about each scene. The movie is about how societies can let Nazi like people run things. It's allagory. Why did they fight so hard? Because some of Sam Spiegel's family died during the holocaust. The movie MEANT something to them. They didn't want to "educate" as much as get it right.
Same for Oliver Stone. He grew up with people who lost loved ones in Vietnam (and WWII somewhat). He too wasn't trying to educate but get it right (and that would be the most powerful education possible).
In the decades ahead both Ukrainians and Russians will create the kind of war movies that matter.
Top Gun doesn't matter. It's delusional in every way possible.
