My 2 cents is most appearances of Putin are doubles. He can't use a double for this. Four hours is a LONG time. I don't believe he can do it for security reasons. He can't be sure who hasn't lost a kid in the war, who might rush the stage with a chair and start wailing on him. Sure, the person would be shot. The TVs would black out. Wouldn't be a good sign.
