My feeling is if I'm dropping a bomb on someone there's a good chance I let a hatred fester that I could have done more to prevent. Maybe that's impossible. Yet believing it impossible means we're just lucky when things go well, and when they aren't, go full-on savagery.

I've watched Israelis (from afar) lose the thread of their Jewish faith. What is the Torah but various questions on how that occurs and what to do about it? Some stories are kill everyone who is "bad" to not overthink anything and lead a good life.

What I see is that the IDF killed Israelis in an incompetent knee-jerk reaction to being overrun. I see the sexism of not listening to the women in the towers. I see no real existential threat from Hamas so therefore an unnecessary immediate bombing and invasion of Gaza.

What about the time to heal first? What about the time to think things through. From an Israeli friend I get "there will be time for that later." To him, Hamas is just the excuse he's been waiting for to drive the Palestinians out of Israel.

I do not believe most Israelis approve of what's going on--or WILL approve of it once they count the real cost in the months ahead. When young Israelis start to pile up the question will be asked, HOW MANY young Israelis must die to get X% of Hamas soldiers, a number that will NEVER reach 100%--especially when the planners are elsewhere, as you know.

I do not write to empower Israeli's enemies. I write to help fellow Jews save their children. In doing so, the children of Gaza will also be saved.
