My time frame is 5-10 years, but you're right, could end up 50. It's not conceivable to me that Gold as a store of value will be disrupted. Yes, it's difficult to store and move, but that's a fact of everything indestructible.

A well timed large solar flare would probably disrupt the internet for a year or so, and with it, Bitcoin. In war, nations could cut off their internet to others. There are many scenarios where the internet can be compromised, and with that, the value of Bitcoin. Even nukes wouldn't destroy gold.

Again, I'm not arguing against Bitcoin. I think it's here to stay. But I will argue young people take a lot for granted--energy, food, safety, etc. If a military surrounded any modern city people would start starving to death in a few months.

I don't see any changes to governance that would prevent WWIII. Indeed, I see all the same forces re-energizing. If more people read history they would see the same.

ADDENDUM: From today's news: The protests have paralyzed the nation of 19 million. Kazakhstan’s schools have extended their winter break by a week and all commercial banks have been ordered closed. Access to the telephone and internet has also been shut off sporadically. Flights in and out of airports in the cities of Almaty, Aktau and Aktobe have been suspended.
