No one can make a living writing about Ukraine as an independent. That is, no one could afford to rent an apartment in a major city, like Kyiv. Stefan Korshak's best pieces aren't published in the Kyiv Post. He publishes them on his FB/Substack/Mediuam pages.

Such hardships for the independent writer can be blessings in disguise. No kid ever grew up and complained about moving around on an adventure (assuming safety). And don't you get a clearer picture of what's going on if you're not around others who lead you into groupthink?

You might argue I'm reading it all wrong ;) Go ahead ;) I think you've picked a genius solution! The reason more people don't do it isn't because it's bad for kids. It's too hard on them!
