On any of these stories you talk about I generally post the argument that a 40% black incarceration rate in the U.S. implies blacks are genetically criminal/violent OR there is institutionalized economic suppression by whites (with blacks torn between that injustice and their need for safe neighborhoods). Because I see weak evidence for the former I suggest, on FB, that black populations in prisons should be brought down to their general population percent, or 14%.
Too much? Fine. Let's start with 30%.
Crickets.
If one argues the institutionalized, economics case, than we should talk reparations. (no one on FB has yet engaged me on this topic)
No one ever gives me a thumbs up. I would have expected blacks to agree but I sense they have stayed clear of this whole issue. Normal people avoid these "discussions." Both white and black put out BLM signs but have better things to do (as I believe I would if I was black).
My experience above suggests that everyone involved in the BLM type movements have ZERO interest in fixing anything, as you so clearly point out.
Unfortunately, I believe they are making the problems much worse. The local public schools have BLM signs draped out front. Schools should be free of religion or politics. PERIOD. No exceptions.
I am very against the BLM signs from the beginning because there is no policy objective--like prison incarceration or economics for people with no family properties.
Well, guess I'm just part of the problem here ;) Like so many here, I've tuned out but worry about some larger problems coming...
